The export value of South Korean machine tool industry in 2019 was 181.802 billion US dollars, with an import value of 114.226 billion US dollars, of which 22.382 billion US dollars were imported from China and 32.218 billion US dollars were exported to China. From the perspective of machine tool products imported from China, they are mainly concentrated in general machinery, electric machinery, precision mechanical components, handling machinery, machine tool parts and materials, with general machinery and electric machinery accounting for over 63% of the import volume.
From the popularity of domestic exhibitors in the Korean market in recent years, there has been a high demand for various CNC machine tools, laser cutting, metal processing machinery, machine tool accessories and other products in the market.
Exhibition Summary
The Korea International Machine Tool Exhibition is organized by the Korea Machine Tool Industry Association and has received strong support from institutions such as the South Korean Ministry of Science and Technology, Gyeonggi do, the Central Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, the Korea Trade and Investment Revitalization Commune, and the Korea Trade Association. The Korea International Machine Tool Exhibition was founded in 1984 and is held every two years. It has been successfully held 20 times and is the most representative exhibition in the Korean machine tool industry. SIMTOS, as the only world-class machine tool exhibition in South Korea, leads the development trend of the world machine tool industry. Its scale has surpassed the JIMTOF Machine Tool Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan, which is one of the four traditional machine tool exhibitions in the world. In 2022, a total of 29 countries participated in the Machine Tool Exhibition, with 854 exhibitors and 4825 booths.
